Class Overview: The aim of this course is to prepare students for studying in an English-speaking country. The course will give students the skills and techniques they require to understand and follow the content of the courses they take at school, college, or university, and help them prepare and complete their exams and assessments. The course covers topics from listening, taking notes in class, and utilizing academic vocabulary, to analyzing texts and participating in group projects. The course is broken down into 4 lessons. Each lesson will begin with a video from the experienced teacher, followed by a set of activities.
Class Objectives: • Establish a method of listening and note taking in lectures and tutorials.
• Build a persuasive argument using academic language for essay writing and public speaking.
• Comprehend and analyse texts using techniques such as critical thinking, comparing, explaining and questioning.
• Participate in class discussions and play an active role in group projects.
